No one is born playing roller derby\, so everyone starts off as a beginner. We will teach you how to stop\, turn around\, skate backwards\, fall safely\, jump\, hit\, and so much more! \nDO I NEED TO BE ABLE TO SKATE?\nSome skating ability may make it easier to pick up other skills associated with roller derby however\, we will have additional coaches during our first four weeks to help you nail the basics. \nOur training venue\, Skate Central\, has public skating sessions if you want to practice before our recruitment event. \nKIT REQUIRED\nEveryone attending a new intake session must have all of the following with them on the day: \n\nQuad Skates\nKnee pads\nElbow pads\nWrist guards\nHelmet\nMouth guard\n\nThese things are for your safety and of those around you. This is a WFTDA aligned tournament and each team will place each other before a finale to determine the sevens champions. \nSevens is often more fast paced so we recommend this for inter/advanced skaters only. \nHow will it work?\nFirst off\, you will need to reserve your space for you team\, there are only 3 team spaces avaliable so you’ll need to be quick. Team spots are £70 (so £10 per skater) and gurantee 3 20-minute games! \nAfter you’ve reserved your tickets\, we’ll be in touch to confirm your team information / provide you with your game day timings. \nWhen is it? If you’re happy to skate under the moniker of ‘women’s roller derby’\, we’d love to have you! \nIs there an age limit?\nYes – we can only accept skaters who are over 18. \nIf you are under 18\, you can join our junior league! (refund policy)\nOur recruitment events are very popular and loan kit is in high demand. You may cancel your space on the new intake and receive a full refund for any loan kit you have paid for up to 7 days before the new intake event. This allows us to open up your spot or loan kit to anyone on the waiting list. Any cancellations received after the deadline will not be refunded.  \nI really want to join but I can’t make this event date. Can I still join?\nYes! You must still register your place on the event to secure your place and reserve your loan kit. Then please let us know at ssrdrecruitment@gmail.com and we’ll arrange for you to join within 4 weeks of the event date. If you can’t join within those 4 weeks\, we’re afraid you will need to wait for our next recruitment cycle.  \nIs my registration/ticket transferrable?\nNo – each person who attends must register for themselves.
