Before you sign up to this event\, please ensure you read all of the below information. You may also wish to visit our New Skater page on our website for more information.  \nWHO CAN COME ALONG?\nIf you are a woman or non-binary\, are over 18\, WE WANT YOU! No one is born playing roller derby\, so everyone starts off as a beginner. We will teach you how to stop\, turn around\, skate backwards\, fall safely\, jump\, hit\, and so much more! \nDO I NEED TO BE ABLE TO SKATE?\nSome skating ability may make it easier to pick up other skills associated with roller derby however\, we will have additional coaches during our first four weeks to help you nail the basics. \nOur training venue\, Skate Central\, has public skating sessions if you want to practice before our recruitment event. \nKIT REQUIRED\nEveryone attending a new intake session must have all of the following with them on the day: \n\nQuad Skates\nKnee pads\nElbow pads\nWrist guards\nHelmet\nMouth guard\n\nThese things are for your safety and of those around you. You can get everything you need from skate shops like Skate Hut and Double Threat Skates. You can search UK Roller Derby Recyclables on Facebook for second hand kit. If you’re wondering about sizing\, there are some handy tables on the 187 Pads site. \nAnyone missing kit on the day will not be able to skate.   \nLOAN KIT\nWe have a limited amount of loan kit to offer new skaters for free including skates\, helmets and pads. If you wish to hire our loan kit\, please select the Hire Kit Needed ticket option when adding to basket and also add to your basket whatever loan kit you need. Stocks are limited and our recruitment events are very popular\, so please book quickly to avoid disappointment.  \nIf we don’t have your size available please email ssrdrecruitment@gmail.com \nPlease note that we do not loan or provide mouthguards – you will need to buy your own. We highly recommend that you get a heat-mouldable mouthguard such as Sisu\, for comfort and ease of use. Anyone without a mouthguard will not be permitted to join in the event.  \nSESSION OUTLINE\nSunday February 2nd \n\n11:30am: new intake session opens!\n11:30am-12:15pm: – attendees arrive\, meet the team\, get kitted up\n12:15pm-12:30pm: presentation from our Recruitment Team\n12:30pm-1:45pm – skates on! Our new intake coaches will take your through the basic skating skills required for roller derby\n1:45pm: session ends. \n\nCOSTS\nYour first session is free; after that it’s £7.50 per session which you can pay with card when you arrive. After 4 weeks\, if you want to stay and play with us\, you can join us as a member for a monthly fee of £42 (reduced dues are available\, just ask a member of the team). \nSO HOW DO I SIGN UP?\nAdd to basket a skater ticket and any loan kit you need\, making sure to select the size you will likely need. \nHOW DO I RESERVE LOAN KIT?\nIf you are ordering loan kit\, make sure you select each item of kit you need when adding the ticket to your basket. \nIf your size is not shown then this means that this size is Sold Out. (refund policy)\nOur recruitment events are very popular and loan kit is in high demand. You may cancel your space on the new intake and receive a full refund for any loan kit you have paid for up to 7 days before the new intake event. Any cancellations received after the deadline will not be refunded.  \nI really want to join but I can’t make this event date. Can I still join?\nYes! You must still register your place on the event to secure your place and reserve your loan kit.
